KT Marine, Korean marine supplies manufacturer interested in investing in El Salvador

The presidential commissioner for Strategic Projects, Cristian Flores, informed that during his business tour between dcember 6 and 11 in South Korea, companies showed interest in investing in the country.

The official added that the company KT Marine, manufacturer of marine supplies, is interested in the ferry and the connection between El Salvador and Costa Rica, this project is ready to give it a start flag and they will wait for the last steps of Costa Rica.

The purpose of this tour is to show the companies the best that the country has, which is the human talent, natural wealth and the strategic geographical location. He also indicated that they met with companies such as Hyundai Engineering, DOHWA Engineering, the trade association KOMEA and a university specialized in marine and shipyards.

He said that El Salvador will have a shipyard, i.e. a maintenance area for ships, cruise ships, fishing boats of more than 100 meters.

He also said that there are no shipyards in the Pacific Rim, only in the north of Mexico and Ecuador, which represents an important opportunity, thanks to the fact that the country is in the center of the continent.

The shipyard is an employment opportunity for many young people and professionals. Korea Maritime University will provide scholarships in navigation, repairs and logistics at the highest level. It will also provide specialized technical support.

Flores said that they hope to achieve economic growth through the expansion of the Port of Acajutla, being a main gateway for exports and imports. The South Korean company DOWHA Engineering is interested in quadrupling its capacity with the financial support of Eximbank.

He emphasized that the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is a strategic ally for the country and supports the country in infrastructure proposals by making links with large companies and global financial institutions.
