Written by Karla Gutiérrez

During tuesday's plenary session, the Legislative Assembly approved a loan of US$68 million with the Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF) to finance the program for the "Strengthening of public spaces for the sustainability of security and the recovery of the Tejido Social in El Salvador", which was signed on march 5, 2024.

It will finance the project, which seeks to generate conditions that contribute to improving the well-being of the population by strengthening public spaces in strategic areas of the country, such as the historic center of San Salvador.

In these areas we intend to implement branches such as art, technology, and culture in order to benefit approximately 4 million people directly, through four important components for their development.

In these areas we intend to implement branches such as art, technology and culture in order to benefit approximately 4 million people directly, through four important components for their development.

The first of these is social integration. Here art will be promoted with the creation of meeting spaces and the development of audiovisual production in the historic center, the former Libertad cinema will be intervened, 12 public sites will be recovered, a square will be built and a building for the formation of cinematographic arts will be constructed.

The second component includes the improvement of the visitor experience and the promotion of tourist areas, through an infrastructure of digital innovation, with signage and lighting of the roads connecting Surf City and will develop works first aid posts, areas of improvement in the Malecon, located in the port of La Libertad.

The third one includes a study to execute the financial feasibility of the intervention of the Juan Francisco Barraza stadium, located in San Miguel, and a consultancy for urban interventions.
