El Salvador stood out in Ibero-American Securities Market Meeting

El Salvador hosted the meeting of supervisors of the Ibero-American Institute of Securities Markets (IIMV), an organization created in 1999 with the vision of promoting stock markets through cooperation among regulators.

Genaro Serrano, president of the institute's Board of Authorities and deputy superintendent of Securities of El Salvador, explained that the purpose of the meeting was to promote the exchange of experiences and information among regulators, to broaden knowledge of the work being done in other jurisdictions.

As a result of these operations, at the end of 2023, the national stock market reported a 70.13% increase in negotiations, reaching a traded amount of US$5,143.22 million.

During the meeting, the following topics were discussed: market development and promotion measures, asset securitization in El Salvador, fintech digital finance and regional integration process of securities markets.

The Superintendencia del Sistema Financiero (SSF), as an institution integrated to the Ibero-American Institute, hosted the meeting in which representatives of 11 other organizations from Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Dominican Republic, and Brazil participated.
