Chevron executives announced an investment of $30 million for the next 5 years in the Texaco fuel terminal, located in Acajutla, and in this way, the corporation will strengthen its operations in El Salvador and also in investments in service stations.

 

 

Among the projects to be developed is the construction of two tanks, one for gasoline and the other for diesel, which will increase its storage capacity by 260 thousand barrels, equivalent to 5.5 million gallons, which will meet the demand at Texaco service stations. In addition, investments in new gas stations to continue expanding the network throughout the country, and paving projects.

This is a project that aims to meet the growing demand for fuels in El Salvador and ensure the supply chain from the refineries of the brand in the United States, "the company wants to strengthen its commitment to be a reliable source of fuel supply for the country and contribute to the revitalization of the economy", said Miguel Ramos, country manager of Chevron.

The construction project for the new infrastructure is in the phase of obtaining construction permits from the authorities. Once they are obtained, they expect to begin construction in 2024. "Projects such as these require state-of-the-art technology and are built under international quality and safety standards, with the objective of guaranteeing the well-being of the area's inhabitants", said Ramos.

Currently, the brand enjoys the trust of salvadorans, which allows it to supply 43% of the local market demand for hydrocarbons distributed at service stations, who recognize the quality and performance of Techron fuels.

In addition to the construction of the tanks, the executive said that improvements are also being made to the terminal's access roads and internal roads, and the brand's expansion plan continues throughout El Salvador.

"The investment does not stop, we project annual growth in service stations, which means opening between 6 or 8 each year in different areas of the country, which by our business model is done through local partners, who wish to contribute to the development where they establish their businesses", says Ramos.

Under this form of operation, Chevron has a network of more than 120 TEXACO brand service stations throughout the country, generating more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs in the operations of the fuel terminal, the lubricants plant and the marketing of products to customers of the brand and industrial stations.

In addition to being an important economic engine, the commitment with the social and environmental development of the country is a fundamental part of the operations of the brand, during the last 14 years, Chevron has developed different projects of Social Investment, benefiting the community, among these educational contributing with the learning of 51,000 boys and girls, impacting the lives of 166,000 people.

The development of community impact programs is carried out through alliances with Glasswing and other organizations with expertise in community work, which allows us to provide support based on the needs of the population.

We are also working to promote sports by supporting Asofutbol Playa in the "Samuel Quirós" Children and Youth League, with the participation of nearly 800 children and young people; the foundation Un Gol Por El Salvador, and also promoting summer schools in public schools.

In this way Chevron, a U.S. company that has been operating in El Salvador since 1938, demonstrates its strong commitment to El Salvador, generating relationships of trust with the communities where it operates.
