In order to reduce food vulnerability in the country, parliamentarians approved, with 64 votes, the Integral Agricultural Commercialization Law. This law seeks to regulate activities to improve productivity, profitability and competitiveness of agribusinesses and balance the price of agricultural products.

The minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Óscar Guardado, announced that as of april 28th, the delivery of agricultural packages to more than half a million small producers of basic grains will begin, in order to support their economies and guarantee the supply of corn, one of the most important foods in the basic food basket.

With 75 votes, parliamentarians approved transitory provisions to free the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) from paying Value Added Tax (VAT) on the purchase of improved bean seeds, corn, agricultural inputs, transportation and logistics as part of the Family Agriculture Program and Agricultural Packages.
