Economic recovery continues in Latin America thanks to sales according to Gfk report

GfK, a global consulting firm that offers knowledge from data and insights, along with advanced Artificial Intelligence capabilities, presented its latest report "Weekly trends and outlook for the technology and durable goods market" in which it highlights the economic reactivation in Latin America, thanks to the continued growth of sales that register an approximate growth between 2 to 34%, compared to 2020.

It also notes that as the countries of the region have opened their economies, the traditional channels of purchase grew between 10 and 140% approximately, without abandoning the digital channels.

Argentina

For the Argentine country, the devaluation of the Argentine peso impacted the normal development of sales. For this reason, all categories, except smartphones, had a negative performance. Thus, the sale of smartphones achieved a growth of 6%, in the case of traditional channels showed a growth of 44% over the same period last year.

Brazil

The market showed a growth of 8%, compared to the same period of 2020. As an example hot beverage machines became the product with the highest growth with 18%, while tablet sales presented lower sales, reflecting a 31% drop and traditional and online sales grew by 10% and 6% respectively.

Chile

The southern country showed a market growth of 34%. Home audio systems and desktop computing are the products that recorded the highest growth in sales with 152% and 103% respectively. The printer segment continues to be the product with the lowest acquisition with a decrease of 39% compared to the same period of 2020. Chile had an increase in traditional sales with a growth of 140%.

Colombia

For the coffee-growing country, market growth is evident with 12%. Home audio systems and smartphones were the best-selling items growing 38% and 20% respectively. Traditional sales also managed to grow 27% compared to 2020.

Peru

Finally, the andean country maintained a modest growth of only 1%. Desktop computers are the best-selling product with an increase of 118%. In second place, printers showed an increase of 78%, occupying the second place. The sale of televisions showed a drop of 22% compared to 2020, and online sales showed an evolution of 9%.
