The President of the Administración Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ANDA), Rubén Alemán, informed about the main objective of the institution with the rehabilitation and investment of the Las Pavas Water Treatment Plant.

The investment made for the rehabilitation and improvement of the Las Pavas Water Treatment Plant is US$78 million, which has been managed by the French Government and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), which will allow more salvadorans to have access to drinking water, leading to the regularization in sectors that for years did not have this resource.

In addition, the ANDA representative indicated that the water treatment plant will be inaugurated in a few days, which will improve drinking water services in the metropolitan area.

"There will be 29 motors operating at the Las Pavas plant. It will improve the supply provided to 11 municipalities of San Salvador, which is equivalent to 1.5 million salvadorans", said ANDA's President, Rubén Alemán.

The Las Pavas Water Treatment Plant, located in the municipality of San Pablo Tacachico, department of La Libertad, is currently the main source of drinking water production that supplies the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador.

According to ANDA's president, the Las Pavas plant was built between 1988 and 1992 and began operations in 1993. From that date to date, the plant has had no investments for the improvement or maintenance of the machinery, which caused supply problems for years.

"We are doing a titanic work, not only to provide service, but to provide quality service", said the head of ANDA, "Water is not an infinite resource. We have to take care of it", said ANDA's representative, Rubén Alemán.

The president of ANDA, Ruben Aleman, said that "The price rates in the drinking water service, so far no changes are planned".
