In its pre-investment component, the initiative includes the execution of studies for the restoration plan of degraded areas, the improvement of environmental education with the population, the development of feasibility studies for the construction of wastewater treatment plants in the Lempa River basin (Trifinio), the design of a waste sludge treatment plant for the Torogoz drinking water treatment plant, and studies for the expansion and improvement of the drinking water system in the port of La Libertad.
This program is composed of 4 components:
1.Preinvestment and design studies
2. Improvement of water quality in the upper Lempa River basin
3.Increased access to potable water and sanitation in the Port of La Libertad
4.Institutional strengthening and evaluation
In addition, Rubén Alemán and the Executive President of the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, Sergio Díaz-Granados, signed this morning a new Non-Reimbursable Cooperation contract for US$900,000.
This financing will allow the development of pre-investment studies to define priority works to improve sanitation services in Sonsonate and Ahuachapán.
