The Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) will invest US$75 million for the execution of the Environmental Improvement, Drinking Water and Sanitation Program in the Upper Basin of the Lempa River (Trifinio) and the Port of La Libertad in El Salvador, for which a cooperation agreement has been signed with the Administración Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ANDA).

In its pre-investment component, the initiative includes the execution of studies for the restoration plan of degraded areas, the improvement of environmental education with the population, the development of feasibility studies for the construction of wastewater treatment plants in the Lempa River basin (Trifinio), the design of a waste sludge treatment plant for the Torogoz drinking water treatment plant, and studies for the expansion and improvement of the drinking water system in the port of La Libertad.
