This is an increase of 30% compared to last year. Within that total, 424,000 went to public tourist sites, 228,000 to beaches, 43,000 to cultural sites and 6,000 to protected natural areas.

In addition, one million people visited the attractions of SivarLand, and 405,000 visited the Historic Center of San Salvador. During this period, there were no tragedies in the parks administered by the Government. This is thanks to the efforts of the Civil Protection and Health teams, who took care of all the attendees.

The minister said that, in addition, the number of international visitors who came to the country for these holidays increased 34%. Thus, in the mentioned days, the authorities reported 88,000 international visitors.

More than half of them arrived by air, as there is a significant percentage of salvadoran migrants who come to enjoy their homeland, along with their families and friends. Another group that has swelled these figures are Americans and Canadians.

"We are the number one country that is receiving more international visitors in Central America, in the region. We are only surpassed, in the Caribbean, by the Dominican Republic", highlighted the minister of Tourism. She then recalled that there will be more international celebrations in the remainder of the year. "Undoubtedly tourism will continue to grow (...) We will not have any low season month", said minister Valdez.
