MSME programs generate more than 83 thousand jobs in the region

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), from 2018 to 2023 has promoted the MSME Programs, in which it has disbursed more than US$321 million that were destined, mainly, for working capital, fixed assets and commercial premises to MSMEs engaged in trade, services, agriculture, manufacturing, business real estate activities and rental, transportation and others.

The programs that have been implemented in the region and that cover all the aforementioned sectors are: MSME Program - Traditional, MSME Program with a Focus on Gender, MSME Program with a Focus on Tourism Enterprises, MSME Program affected by Natural Disasters, MSME Program with a Focus on Agribusiness, Green MSME Program, Nama Coffee Facility, Financial Sector Support Facility.

With the investment made in all the projects, El Salvador and Latin America have been able to protect 15,934 MSMEs and 83,212 jobs. This shows the importance of continuing to provide support to enable MSMEs to achieve growth and sustainability in the short, medium and long term.

The implementation of these initiatives has been coordinated through the Management of the Non-Sovereign Public and Private Sector, which seeks to channel financial resources to promote the growth, competitiveness and productivity of MSMEs in the region so that they can continue to generate jobs and strengthen their productivity.
