The Índice de Volumen de Actividad Económica (IVAE) measures the evolution of the activity of the different industries included in the calculation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The IVAE, as a short-term indicator, does not measure the Gross Domestic Product, but its main objective is to indicate the inter-annual trajectory of the productive activity, and thus provide signals to the economic agents about the cycle trend of the economic activity and its changes.
Last january registered a variation of 4.9% in November 2022 when compared to the same month of the previous year, this result is higher than the 4.7% registered twelve months ago.
The valuation of the original index provided by the Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador y el Consejo Monetario Centroamericano (Secmca).
This growth is driven by services such as health and education, the increase in the demand for goods and services, added to a greater productive activity in the following sectors: commerce, financial and services.
8 of the 9 groups of economic activities that make up the IVAE grew, reflecting higher increases in Construction, Public Administration, Education and Health.
