68.2% of salvadorans perceive economic problems as the most serious in the country

According to a survey conducted by the Fundación Guillermo Manuel Ungo (FUNDAUNGO),the economy continues to be the most important concern among the salvadoran population at the end of the first quarter of 2023.

According to the results of the survey for mid 2023, 7 out of 10 salvadorans, that is 68.2% perceive economic problems as the most serious facing the country.

In mid 2022 this situation was pointed out by 5 out of 10 people, 53.8%. Likewise, 4 out of 10 salvadorans consider that the national economic situation worsened in the last 12 months, 3 out of 10 said it remained the same and a quarter considered that it has improved in the last months.

In mid-2023, 38.4% of people have favorable expectations for the national economy in the next twelve months. However, a quarter, 25.2% of people believe that the situation will worsen.

Likewise, when people were asked: How do you think the country will be in the next 12 months in economic terms? 29.7% answered that it will remain the same, 25.2% said it will get worse, 5.6% said they do not know and 38.4% said it will get better.

Last may the results of the economic survey 2023 of the Universidad Francisco Gavidia (UFG), the people surveyed explained that they currently contribute US$137.09 from their pocket to buy food.

The foods that most stopped being consumed according to salvadorans are: Beef 75.3%, eggs 32.2%, beans 12.2%, chicken meat 40.3%, cheese 23.5%, corn 11.4%, oil 11.8%, rice 7.9% and sugar 5.1%.
