The Defensoria del Consumidor, with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the El Salvador Agency for International Cooperation (ESCO), undertook a capacity building program and specialization in consumer protection, under the Multi-Year Program (2023-2025), which will be held in the city of Seoul by the Korea Consumer Agency (KCA).

The president of the Defensoria del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar, informed that the purpose of this program is to improve the institution's capacities for the development of effective consumer policies related to the dynamics of the markets of the participating countries.

Salazar emphasized that through this important technical assistance from the Korean Consumer Agency, the Defensoria del Consumidor will be able to define and implement effective actions to improve consumer protection in El Salvador.

The president of the Defensoria del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar, thanked KOICA for its financial support as well as ESCO's guidance, for allowing us to participate in this important technical assistance effort.

Salazar, who emphasized that the Defensoría continues to be strengthened to achieve results in favor of consumers, held a working meeting with the technical team of the Defensoría del Consumidor delegated to participate in the program sponsored by the Republic of Korea.

The human talent designated for this cooperation and exchange program will attend an internship for two weeks in the offices of the Consumer Agency of Korea, in the city of Seoul Salazar encouraged them to get the best results of learning and knowledge for the benefit of salvadoran consumers. It will be a great experience to grow and share", he emphasized.

The Defensoría del Consumidor, like the Korean Consumer Agency, is part of the International Consumer Protection Enforcement Network (ICPEN), a multilateral organization that fosters inter-agency dialogue and focuses on consumer protection concerns, as well as cooperation to promote greater impact of consumer laws and regulations in nations.

The mission of the El Salvador Agency for International Cooperation (ESCO) is to optimize the opportunities and possibilities of international cooperation for the economic and social development of El Salvador.
