The director of the DGEHM said that prices are quite competitive in El Salvador, in Guatemala prices went up due to its coal plant and now energy is exported to that country.

"Local demand is covered and everything that is not occupied is exported, we have more energy in El Salvador", said Daniel Alvarez, director of the Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM).

In addition, they seek to comply with the Paris agreements, to maintain low carbon emissions.
