Regular gasoline price remains at US$4.15 a gallon for this fortnight

The Ministry of Economy (MINEC), informs salvadorans about the maximum prices of fuels that will be in effect from today may 3 to may 16, 2022.

Salvadorans who consume super gasoline in the central, western and eastern zone the recommended price is US$4.32 and US$4.31.

As for people who prefer regular gasoline for their vehicles in the central, western and eastern zones, they will be able to purchase it at an estimated price of US$4.15.

Those who use diesel, in the central, western and eastern zones, will pay only US$4.14 at the gas station of their choice.

Likewise, in the international oil market, prices rose by over 30% in the first quarter of 2022, mainly driven by an increase in risk aversion due to the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine, which broke out at the end of february.

The US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) advanced 33.33% and in its last session of march ended at a level of US$100.28 per barrel.

The highest increase was led by the European benchmark Brent North Sea, which rose 38.74% and closed march at 107.91 dollars per barrel. On the other hand, the mexican export blend had a quarterly increase of 37.47%, ending the third month of the year at 98 dollars per barrel.
