AES El Salvador, Blink Charging and Bambú City Center give new impetus to electromobility in the country

Written by Karla Gutiérrez

AES El Salvador together with Blink Charging announced the opening of a new electric station in Bambu City Center, San Salvador.

In this way, the energy company continues advancing with its plans to accelerate clean mobility in the country, increasing its network of charging points in 2024.

AES El Salvador, through its Soluciones Division, informed that, apart from the new charging point in Bambu City Center, there are nine other charging stations located in gas stations, restaurants and shopping centers in the departments of San Salvador, Usulután, La Libertad, Chalatenango, Sonsonate and soon in San Miguel.

All stations of the AES/Blink partnership operate under the self-service model. With the Blink Charging Mobile app, users can create a profile and add a payment method in order to charge their electric vehicle battery.

A standard electric car will require just under five hours to fully charge from zero. Charging time also varies by the type of inverter and the capacity of the vehicle's battery.

On average, electric cars have a range of movement of approximately 350 kilometers, enough to tackle routine commutes without a problem or take a trip in the interior of the country thanks to the network of electric gas stations that continues to grow.

Based on the current general energy tariff, the cost of a full battery charge for a 40 kWh electric vehicle is US$ 7.65. Taking as a reference the current prices of fossil fuels, specifically regular gasoline, this would represent a savings of more than 80% with respect to internal combustion vehicles, while positively impacting the environment.

AES El Salvador and its strategic allies will continue working together in the installation of new charging points to connect more than 325 kilometers of routes, guaranteeing drivers greater peace of mind on long trips in the country's interior.

With these actions, AES El Salvador continues to develop its commitment to transportation with zero emissions of polluting gases, the reduction of noise pollution, and the reduction of hazardous and polluting waste, to continue accelerating the future of energy.

AES El Salvador's commitment to electromobility

Currently, AES El Salvador has a network of 45 charging stations, of which 35 are for the use of its internal fleet of electric vehicles and are installed within its operating plants, while the other 10 stations are part of the new network of commercial chargers established in locations of strategic partners in alliance with Blink.

In addition, 21 electric vehicles are part of the operating fleet of its distribution companies. By the end of 2024, AES plans to have more electric vehicles in its operations, in addition to continuing to expand the network of charging points in public access locations.
