As part of World Food Day, Walmart joined the “Hambre Cero” campaign of the Food Bank of El Salvador through its initiative Banco de Alimentos de El Salvador donating food and basic necessities, which go directly to people at social risk.

Walmart joined the campaign along with suppliers and other donor companies of the bank to collect food, achieving a total of 38,295.12 pounds that will be delivered to the Asociación Civil Alimentos Solidarios who will be responsible for taking them to the more than 42 thousand people served by the institution.

Through the Impacto Colectivo por la Alimentación, Walmart in El Salvador is donating $15,600 worth of food and basic necessities to support the Food Route that the Bank is carrying out for the benefit of 200 children from communities in the eastern part of the country who live in vulnerable situations.  Impacto Colectivo por la Alimentación is an initiative created and promoted by Walmart Mexico and Central America in response to the food emergency experienced by thousands of Central American households, and supported by its business partners in the region.

"One of Walmart's main causes of social investment is to support access to nutrition through the 0 waste program, so for the fourth consecutive year we joined together with our suppliers to donate food and basic necessities to the Bank, in order to help it fulfill its mission to minimize hunger in El Salvador", said Sandra Cáceres, Corporate Affairs Coordinator for Walmart in El Salvador.
