MAG affirms that agricultural production is performing sufficiently to meet domestic demand

Written by Evelyn Alas

The minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Enrique Parada, said this morning that they are developing actions to increase our national production.

The agricultural subsidy program under the current administration has improved in all aspects and positive results are already being observed.

He detailed that the delivery of 600,000 corn agro-technological packages has been completed and the delivery of 219,000 of those containing bean seed is underway. Even when the rains have been abundant and frequent, the harvests evolve favorably. " Centro Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria y Forestal informed me that the corn has developed satisfactorily: we were already able to open the cob and we have found good size", the minister said.

"What we are doing as MAG, is to improve the conditions of producers so that at some point they do not depend on the packages to be able to grow", said the official.

The minister also informed that they continue with support activities for coffee production, which will have an expected increase of 16% in the next cycle to begin. "So far the coffee sector is receiving technical assistance services. Last week we were in Quezaltepeque and we delivered vouchers so that the producers can acquire agricultural inputs that they require in their production", commented the interim minister.

"We have delivered granulated and foliar fertilizer, coffee seedlings and we have provided them with technical assistance services; all this with the intention that this year's coffee harvest will be higher than last year's", explained the interim minister Parada.

Along with the harvest stage, the representation of the salvadoran government in different countries has joined the effort to promote this good. Even in the most demanding markets, this product has a great acceptance that is reflected in an increase of 67% in exports.
