BANDESAL delivered checks to merchants affected by the fire in Santa Ana market

The Banco de Desarollo de El Salvador (BANDESAL) as the entity in charge of the Fideicomiso para la Recuperacion Económica de las Empresas Salvadoreñas (FIREMPRESA) in conjunction with the municipal government of Santa Ana, made the delivery of checks to vendors affected by the fire.

The fire that occurred on wednesday march 10, 2021, affected more than 500 vendors, who lost everything, thanks to the reform of the FIREMPRESA Law, a special fund of US$3 million was allocated for the creation of the "Non-Refundable Program" for vendors affected by the fire.

For the process of channeling the subsidy, the Mayor's Office of Santa Ana shared the databases of affected merchants.

BANDESAL carried out application filling sessions prior to the delivery for those affected in which they were able to complete and update their data to be able to receive the benefit that the Government provides for the reactivation of their businesses.

The president of BANDESAL, Juan Pablo Durán, emphasized that more than 500 affected vendors will benefit, with which, through the subsidy, they will be able to invest in their businesses and reactivate the economy of the department of Santa Ana.

"When the fire affected the market, the mayor of Santa Ana, Gustavo Acevedo, contacted us and we proposed a special fund of US$3 million from FIREMPRESA to be included in the Law Reform", said the president of BANDESAL.
