Plan Invernal 2021 seeks to achieve an increase in crop projection between 4% and 5%

The results contemplated in the Plan Maestro de Rescate Agropecuario, promoted by the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG),together with the General Dirección General de Protección Civil and municipalities, has been in charge of developing and implementing the Plan Invernal 2021.

The development of the plan which seeks to prevent agricultural losses and improve conditions for the products of the agricultural sector, which arises to ensure that producers, prevent and subtract losses in agricultural manufacturing, thus ensuring the availability of food for families, ensuring to protect the livelihoods of the sector.

"Our #PlanInvernal includes enabling collection centers for basic grains and livestock. The harvest projection is to be higher by 4% to 5% in basic grains. We hope that weather conditions allow it", added David Martinez, minister of Agriculture and Livestock.

For the plan, some shelters have been designated for the protection of livestock and other animals such as poultry, which are located on the lands of cooperatives that are willing to work with the Government to rescue the agricultural sector.

The minister said that as of May 15, the "Agricultural Package" is important, as well as the "“Plan Maestro de Rescate Agropecuario “" which brings an improvement in the use of technologies which will be decisive for an increase in productivity for a successful harvest.

"The investment in the delivery of #PaquetesAgrícolas represents 47% of the budget of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería. It is a very critical issue because it represents a lot of the budget", said the minister

Likewise, the Plan Maestro brings with it a modernization component in order to provide knowledge and technology to be able to train, and educate personnel and thus be able to technify producers according to the minister.

"The state in which we find national consumption for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), a country that imports more than 20% of what it consumes is in vulnerability. El Salvador imports 80% of the grains we consume. We are in a precarious situation", he added.

The development of this plan seeks to restore salvadoran agriculture, a new economic dynamic that will help development in rural areas of the country.

"The Plan Maestro seeks to provide the conditions for our productive chain to be reactivated and for the country to aspire to achieve food sovereignty. Our strategy seeks to inject financial resources and technical support, so that in four years we will see our harvest", concluded the minister.
