Operations at Aeropuerto Internacional de El Salvador reach 70%

According to the president of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA)Federico Anliker, the high percentage of operations at Aeropuerto Internacional El Salvador “San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez " represents an economic recovery for the country.

El Salvador International Airport is the main base for the mobilization of people and cargo by air; through early and accurate recommendations from the Executive, its operations were temporarily suspended to avoid Covid-19 infection, thus saving the lives of thousands of salvadorans.

During the commercial closure, the airport was used to receive thousands of compatriots who were repatriated from different parts of the world and received under strict biosecurity norms; it was also the site of important donations that were added in the fight to defeat the coronavirus.

The reopening, both commercial and transit of people, occurred in a gradual and orderly manner, which brought the reopening of flights of different airlines, as well as the incorporation and interest of other commercial companies.

"We surpassed 16 million kilos of import and export air cargo; never before in the history of the airport had these numbers been seen", communicated, the head of CEPA.

In addition, he said that cargo mobility in the country has increased and that to date 95% of the passenger terminal expansion at the El Salvador Airport has been completed.

"We have six times more territory in sea than in land, we are facing the sea.It is a resource that we can exploit, in the good sense of the word, and it will generate a lot of wealth for the country", said the president of CEPA.
