The minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Rolando Castro, informed that as of today, a contingent of 700 labor inspectors will visit all municipal mayors' offices, with the purpose of guaranteeing and protecting the labor rights of workers in the municipalities.

The ministry has announced that during the whole week, they will be carrying out a nationwide deployment, to visit all the municipalities of the country, they will visit the 262 districts nationwide, to guarantee the compliance of the labor laws in the municipalities.

Castro assured that it is fundamental to guarantee the right to labor stability of the employees of the mayors' offices, with this deployment, "we will apply the law impartially and without exceptions", he assured.

Rolando Castro indicated that they have preliminary reports indicating that the outgoing mayors have left complicated matters pending, "we have identified mayors' offices where employees have not received their salaries for 5 to 7 months", he said.

The Minister recalled that since the dissolution of the Instituto Salvadoreño de Desarrollo Municipal (ISDEM)  in 2021, the Ministry of Labor has become the lead entity in charge of verifying compliance with the Municipal Administrative Career Law.
