GOES submits documents to IAEA for the use of peaceful nuclear weapons

The Government of El Salvador delivered the documents to the Organismo Internacional de Energía Atómica (OIEA) to implement the use of peaceful nuclear energy.

The Director of the Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM),  Daniel Álvarez, together with the Vice Chancellor, Adriana Mira, delivered the documents to the Director General of the OIEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi.

According to the information provided by the entities in social networks, this means the diversification of the energy matrix in the long term to achieve the decabonization of El Salvador.

The vice-chancellor indicated that this meeting "is in line with El Salvador's energy policy, which is aimed at increasing our country's energy security, reducing electricity costs, and increasing the promotion of the different productive sectors".

"We are not only growing, but we are also doing it in a sustainable way through the diversification of energy sources", said the Vice Chancellor.

The IAEA Director General stated that "El Salvador is committed to decarbonization, diversifying its energy matrix".

"El Salvador is committed to decarbonization, energy matrix and the use of peaceful nuclear applications. It is important to receive legal instruments that allow the safe use of nuclear energy", said Grossi.
