More than US$700 million to be invested by the government in the country's road network

Written by Miguel Crespín

Cristian Flores, Presidential Commissioner for Strategic Projects, detailed in a radio interview that by 2023, US$737.6 million will be invested in infrastructure, safety and signaling, as well as mitigation works in the country's road network.

The flagship project of the investment to improve the country's connectivity will be the Los Chorro Viaduct, which will cost around US$300 million, according to Commissioner Flores. The objective of this project will be to eliminate the risks generated by the current stretch of road, in addition to helping to reduce traffic in the area.

"This is a project that not only brings benefits in terms of logistics and mobility for our people, for millions of people who move from the west to the central zone or to different places", said Flores in the interview.

The private sector will be another beneficiary, according to the official, since companies will be subcontracted to carry out the project, in addition to ensuring new jobs for the execution of the works.

Cristian Flores also explained that, for the moment, this is the largest public investment in the country that has broken paradigms. According to Flores, the Government will continue to bet on mobility and is preparing new economic disbursements for the creation of new infrastructure, such as the new airport in the eastern part of the country, which will seek to dynamize the movement of the diaspora in that area of El Salvador.
