With 63 votes, the deputies of the Legislative Assembly endorsed the ratification of the loan agreement for an amount of US$75 million, in order to execute the "Program for the Transformation of El Salvador's Business Climate through Trade and Investment Facilitation", signed with the Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF).

As stated in the 113th plenary session, this is the fourth loan signed with CAF, and this last one will serve to strengthen the General Directorate of Customs to modernize three border posts, which will be La Hachadura, Las Chinamas and San Cristobal with software and technology programs.

"The CAF is a multilateral that has given confidence for the development of our country and with this we will see that our State will be more efficient in the area of customs, because it saves time and thus money to move products to other nations", said the parliamentarian Giovanny Zaldaña.

In addition, the funds will be used to finance the program of Transformation of the Business Climate of El Salvador, through the facilitation of Trade and Investment, developed by the Ministry of Economy (MINEC).

The loan was signed on June 21 of this year, with a 15-year term and a 60-month grace period.

This program includes three components aimed at simplifying and digitalizing procedures; facilitating trade by land to other Central American countries with intelligent customs; and promoting and attracting investment to generate employment.

"El Salvador has changed and has created a favorable climate to attract foreign investment and this generates economic growth and jobs for salvadorans", said Congressman Samuel Martinez.
