Tourism in El Salvador generates a total of US$2,480 million

As of august of this year, El Salvador has received 2 million visitors, which translates to more than US$2.48 billion in foreign exchange income.

According to data from the Ministry of Tourism, the most used entrance route is by air with 56%, while by land tourists also enter the country with 44%.

The origin of the tourists, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism, the majority come from the United States with a percentage of 45%, followed by Guatemala with 2.3% and Honduras with 1.5% of visitors.

The Ministry of Tourism reveals that the average stay of visitors is 2 to 3 weeks, with a daily expenditure per person of approximately US$170.00. Most of the tourists visit El Salvador's national, cultural, natural and public tourist sites, with a total tourist expenditure of US$7.1 million in these areas.

The Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, highlights that as of august 2023, the country has received 2.2 million visitors, equivalent to 74% of this year's goal.

"We are intervening the tourist destinations most visited by tourists", said Valdez. "Now we have the responsibility to make them feel the best experience", she said.
