Recommendations to keep control of your personal expenses

Written by Evelyn Alas

Keeping track of your personal expenses will keep you out of debt and substantially improve your relationship with money.

Learn how to control your accounts:

Exercising personal spending control could change your life dramatically; especially if you consider that you are not making money.

1. Understand what personal expense control is.

It is impossible for you to implement financial changes in your life if you don't know what personal expense control is.

In essence, personal expenses are made up of the services you pay for on a regular basis and the goods you purchase.  In other words, they are represented by your expenses (the outflows of money that you do not recover over time), and by the purchases you make on a daily basis.

Expenses can be the payment of your housing rent, basic services, or the purchase of food products.

2. Record your expenses on a monthly basis

The control of personal expenses must be done periodically. Therefore, you must be willing to develop habits that will help you build wealth, instead of sticking to your old financial habits. One of the main changes you should implement as soon as possible is to record your expenses. Fixed expenses: This is basically an essential expense in your life.

The most common are the payment of rents, or services such as electricity, gas or electricity, and even those related to food. Variable expenses: these are expenses that can change over time, or that you simply cannot know for sure when they will occur.  Some examples are repairing your vehicle in case it breaks down, covering a medical emergency, attending a concert, etc.

Although in most cases variable expenses are not contingent on your survival, you will still have to assume them from time to time.
