"CABEI begins its transition from vehicles to electric fleet"

Written by Evelyn Alas

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is a pioneer in initiating the transition of its vehicle fleet through the acquisition of electric vehicles, charging stations, among other actions that contribute to the mitigation and adaptation of the effects of climate change in the Headquarters building in Tegucigalpa, Honduras with a view to complying with the Environmental and Social Sustainability Transversal Axis of the Institutional Strategy, as well as Sustainable Development Goal 13, called Climate Action.

These electric vehicles are considered environmentally friendly because they do not require fuel to operate, have zero greenhouse gas emissions because they use a battery to power their engine and do not burn fuel internally, also require less oil and coolant, so they improve air quality and produce less noise than conventional vehicles, which contributes to a friendlier environment with little noise pollution.

With the objective of encouraging and promoting new sustainable and sustainable alternatives in the region, the Bank has resources for financing this type of vehicle in its partner countries, and has also designed financial products for its collaborators for the purchase of hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as energy generation alternatives for their homes.

As the Green Bank of Central America, CABEI is committed to improving mobility in our partner countries with cleaner and more efficient forms of transportation, and to this end it is crucial to work with strategic allies to manufacture and make these vehicles more affordable. For this reason, different actors in the private sector in Honduras have been invited to join CABEI in betting on 100% electric mobility and introducing more efficient and less polluting vehicles to the Central American market.
