According to the Centro para la Defensa del Consumidor (CDC), in the basic food basket, 46% of the salvadoran population in urban and rural areas from january 2021 to april 2023, people have disbursed respectively, US$48.54 and US$48.41 more for the purchase of 22 food items.
Salvadorans have to pay US$50 more for their food due to inflation
The president of the Centro para la Defensa del Consumidor (CDC), Danilo Pérez, stated that inflation, since the increase began to be perceived until march of this year, has affected the population's pocket by an estimated US$50 per month.
Bread prices to increase between 2021 and 2022
Danilo Pérez, director of the Centro para la Defensa del Consumidor (CDC), informed this morning that the products to make french bread or sweet bread have increased, in the case of vegetable butter, the 50 pound box in may 2021 cost US$26 and as of july of this year it is at US$55.50, that is an increase of 113%.
