Defensoría led inspections in Puerto de La Libertad to enforce consumer rights

The Central Government is activated and deployed in the territory to guarantee safe vacations to salvadorans and international visitors who have chosen El Salvador as their destination to visit and enjoy.

To this end, the august 2023 Vacation Plan is in effect, in which all institutions that make up the National Civil Protection System participate, so that salvadorans can enjoy this vacation period in total tranquility.

As part of the actions to be executed from today until august 7, the president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar, led an inspection operation in the restaurants located on the boardwalk of the Puerto de La Libertad.

"In this opportunity, we are in the area of the boardwalk of the port of La Libertad, where staff of the Defensoría and its inspectors will be conducting checks on the issue of food", said Salazar.

This is part of a wide operation that is being carried out nationwide, with the purpose of ensuring that consumers' rights are respected in this season of greater affluence in stores and tourist sites, and to prevent businesses from executing improper practices.

The president of the Defensoría explained that they are precisely avoiding the sale of expired products, the teams will be checking the food products that are on the shelves as well as those that are being used for preparation in the kitchen.

The inspections are focused on avoiding misleading advertising and fraud. Therefore, the work of the Defensoría has been reinforced and the teams of inspectors will be daily throughout the territory ensuring compliance with the Consumer Protection Law.
