Until january 31, goods may be brought into the country tax free

The Dirección General de Aduanas (DGA), informs salvadorans residing abroad or foreign visitors that the tax exoneration of up to US$3 thousand for new goods will be in effect until january 31, 2023, benefiting thousands of salvadorans arriving to the country.

Salvadorans returning from abroad, tourists and businessmen would benefit when entering through any of the borders, since the maximum tax designation is higher than the US$1,500 established by the "Law of Baggage of Travelers from Abroad".

In addition, the products that may enter the country without payment of taxes are: clothes, computers, photo and video equipment, musical instruments, 5 liters of liquor or wheelchairs.

These transitory provisions, as approved last december 2022 by the deputies of the Legislative Assembly, exclude carriers, parcel handlers, officers and crew members of all means of transportation that carry out regular traffic of passengers and merchandise.
