The official delivery was made in the framework of World Food Day by Diego Recalde, FAO representative in El Salvador, who said that the funding granted is to honor the organization's commitment to leave no one behind to transform agrifood systems, to make them more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable, to improve production, nutrition, the environment and provide a better life for all.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Enrique Parada, also recalled that this aid is important because the agricultural sector is going through several crises, caused by climate change and the international rise in input prices, but that the Government is making unprecedented efforts to change the reality, which is recognized internationally.
He also highlighted the projects being carried out in the Dry Corridor focused on basic grains and vegetable crops, including Reclima and Rural Adelante. AGROCENTA is another of the initiatives that MAG has to reduce the prices of agricultural inputs.
Palma said that the Government of El Salvador will contribute US$30 million for the second phase of the Sembrando Vida program, which will be supported by the Government of Mexico, as all these projects seek to improve the living conditions of the population.
