Defensoría del Consumidor expands deployment for Mother's Day

Written by Evelyn Alas

The Defensoría del Consumidor activated today a new operation to protect consumers' rights on Mother's Day.

This plan, which is part of the deployment of inspections that the Defensoría del Consumidor develops at national level within the framework of the 11 measures against inflation, includes information services, advice and attention to complaints in the main shopping centers nationwide, by mobile units of the institution.

Likewise, the Defensoría del Consumidor will publish two Who's Who in the prices of cakes and floral arrangements, to provide useful information to consumers, and a survey on habits and preferences of salvadorans in dates of high consumption such as Mother's Day.

The Defensoría del Consumidor will also keep a watchful eye on commercial establishments and e-commerce advertising to protect consumers' rights with respect to promotions and offers, prices on display, expiration dates, and misleading or false advertising, among other provisions of the Consumer Protection Law (LPC).

The president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar, who led the operation in Centro Comercial El Paseo, verified together with the inspection personnel the compliance of promotions and offers on Mother's Day, among other obligations of the economic agents.

The Defensoría del Consumidor, through the Advertising Observatory, has also been activated to prevent the dissemination of misleading or false advertising, and to avoid infringement of the rights and interests of consumers.
