This recognition is part of the recent ISSA operational safety certification obtained by TAG Airlines, after participating in the program jointly promoted by ALTA and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

TAG Airlines, a guatemalan company with 50 years of experience providing commercial and private aviation services, has been selected to join the Asociación Latinoamericana y del Caribe del Transporte Aéreo – ALTA, a private non-profit organization, which aims to join efforts with other member companies to facilitate the development of a safer, more efficient and environmentally friendly air transport.

This coincides with the start of its IOSA certification process, an internationally recognized and accepted assessment system designed to evaluate an airline's operations management and control systems.

"For TAG Airlines it is a source of pride and satisfaction as ALTA plays an important role in the commercial aviation sector in Latin America. For TAG and for the industry this 2021 is a year of recovery, we are working very hard to offer better and greater connectivity, we have many projects that include the expansion of our route network in Central America and the incorporation of new aircraft that will allow us to offer a better product to the market", said Julio Gamero, CEO of TAG Airlines.

The ISSA Program is a tool that seeks to strengthen operational safety indexes in civil aviation in Latin America and the Caribbean. Through this initiative, ALTA has convened more than a dozen airlines in the region and to date, of the 10 ISSA certified airlines, nine are based in the region and six are members of ALTA.

"I welcome the arrival of TAG Airlines to ALTA. Their operation in Central America, consistent growth and committed team are worthy of recognition. I am confident that their participation in ALTA's initiatives will be of great value to continue to restore connectivity in our region and bring the benefits of aviation to more places and more people", commented José Ricardo Botelho, executive director & CEO of ALTA.

TAG Airlines currently operates 12 domestic and international routes in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and soon to southern Mexico with a fleet of 15 Turbo Prop aircraft and one ERJ 145 jet.
