The activity counted with the participation of more than 40 volunteers from Claro El Salvador, who, accompanied by family and friends, cleaned 3.5 kilometers of beach, removing 1,200 pounds (more than 544 kilograms) of garbage.
Taking into account the World Bank's "What a waste" report, a person in Latin America and the Caribbean generates around 1 Kilo of garbage per day, the material recovered by Claro El Salvador's volunteers is equivalent to the waste generated by more than 500 people in just 24 hours.
"Our greatest purpose as a company is to make a better world possible, and that is what we are doing, doing our bit to clean the oceans. We make the change and as Claro El Salvador, a company committed to the community and the environment, we want to make a difference", said Claudia Trejo, head of Public Relations of Claro El Salvador.
Glass, plastic bottles, cans, caps and bags, were the main products collected in this cleaning day that joins the global effort of environmental organizations, individuals and companies with a commitment to sustainability that promote actions to curb and reverse the invasion of plastic in the oceans.
"It is important to contribute to the conservation of the environment and give back a little of so much that it gives us. I am happy to be part of the Claro Volunteers Network, because I know that with these actions we are contributing to the planet", said Ileana Cañas from the Claro El Salvador volunteers network, who joined this cleaning day.
Claro El Salvador's actions in this type of activities, as part of its Social Responsibility actions, are also a call to action by actively involving its employees in activities aimed at recycling, cleaning spaces, among others, in order to contribute responsibly to the care of the country and the planet.
