Written by Leydin Sorto

Mayor of San Salvador, Mario Durán, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the civic month at Plaza Libertad in the Historic Center of the capital. In the event, which was attended by government officials, diplomatic corps, deputies, members of the Municipal Council and authorities of the municipality, the El Salvador Pavilion was raised, 100 members of the Municipal Symphony Orchestra performed the National Anthem and students from the capital recited the Prayer to the Flag.

"Now we are living the true Independence and El Salvador is emerging to be a country recognized around the world as an example of what can be achieved when people are put at the center. This same Historic Center where we find ourselves today was for decades synonymous with insecurity, death, disorder and despair, but today it is the opposite, in less than three years we have managed to free 90% of the heart of El Salvador to give it back to the people", said Mayor Durán.

He also stressed the importance of giving continuity to the Revitalization Plan of the Historic Center to transform the heart of the country.
