Apple Pay: what is it, how to register your cards and where do they accept this payment method?

Written by Evelyn Alas

Apple Pay is a payment method that replaces cash and physical credit or debit cards with a method in which only your smartphone is required. This method, which is characterized as the most secure, private and easy is available in El Salvador and Guatemala as of may 2.

This payment method will be the most convenient and secure way to make purchases, since no cash or physical cards are required, but the transaction is made directly from your Apple device, whether it is an iPhone or an Apple Watch. Basically, the system allows you to go through the cash register of any store or supermarket and make the payment by simply bringing your device close to the specialized POS.

In addition, you can shop online and pay with the push of a button. The system takes care of filling out fields such as: credit card information, shipping address, email, among others.

Apple Pay has been characterized in other countries as a secure payment method, as it does not keep record of what is purchased or where it is made.

Prior to registering your credit or debit card details with Apple Pay, you should confirm with your bank whether this option is available. If the answer is correct, then check if you need to link your cards to your account from your bank's Mobile Banking. If not required, then proceed to add your card to the Wallet app on your iPhone.
