CABEI, EU and german Government through KfW, promote regional innovation contest

With the purpose of identifying and supporting technological developments that have a high potential to become businesses based on the use of waste to generate bioproducts, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), through the tripartite initiative with the European Union (EU) and the Government of Germany through KfW, “Desarrollo de Ideas para Negocios y Aceleración de las MIPYMES Centroamericanas (DINAMICA)”promoted the launching of the Program "From Waste to Value: A Challenge toward Bioproducts" with a sponsorship of US$25,000.

As part of the Program, developed jointly with the Biomaterials Hub, an initiative executed by the Costa Rica Investment Agencia de Promoción de Inversión de Costa Rica de la Coalición Costarricense de Iniciativas de Desarrollo (CINDE) and the Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA), projects from individuals or legal entities from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama will be evaluated, and the five best projects will be awarded with tools to strengthen their capacities, technical and commercial validation, among others.

"CABEI supports entrepreneurship in various ways, and we are excited to know that this program will enable new businesses led by visionary Central Americans to emerge, benefiting the region, its environment and economy", said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

Registrations are open from october 12 to november 13, and those interested can apply at the following link where they will find more information on the competition, which is scheduled to announce the winners on december 9.
