Making strategic decisions

The opening of the office marks an advancement of the long-term agreement signed by the government of El Salvador and Google in august 2023 that aims to place cloud technologies at the center of the country's modernization efforts in the areas of Digital Government, Health and Education, we share the following advances:

1. Digital government: the Google Cloud teams are working hand in hand with the government on their path towards developing simple digital ecosystems for import, export and health registration. The next steps will be to continue supporting the government in the development of platforms that enable interoperability between institutions and improve citizen service through digitization.

2. Health. Different governmental agencies have been trained on how to collect and use the rube's technologies as part of their operations. The next step is to collaborate in the development of their operations to automate processes and provide greater access to health services in the country.

3. Education. Since 2020, Google for Education has collaborated with the Ministry of Education of El Salvador to improve teaching and learning in public basic education. This began with the delivery of Google Workspace for Education educational accounts to all public basic education students and training teachers. Now, the focus is on adopting the more advanced Google Workspace for Education Plus tools, which incorporate artificial intelligence for personalization of learning, as well as the introduction of Chromebooks, laptops running ChromeOS, an operating system manufactured by Google, for fourth graders.

Generating social impact

Innovation and technology have helped millions of people around the world to progress. However, it requires the coordinated action of governments, the private sector and civil society so that its benefits translate into economic growth and more opportunities for all.

To contribute to the digital transformation in El Salvador, through Google.org, the philanthropic arm of Google, a donation of $200,000 USD will be granted so that civil society organizations that we support in the region can offer training in digital skills to local entrepreneurs and grow their businesses.
