First Technology Hub to house world-class firms

Written by Miguel Crespin

El Salvador has important regulations focused on promoting the technology industry as a potential to attract more investment to the country, but along with regulations that offer benefits for companies, specialized infrastructure is needed to receive and meet the demand of world-class technology firms.

This is what Aristos Inmobiliaria, a 100% salvadoran company that specializes in the construction and operation of the most important industrial parks operating in the country, has been working on in recent years and has a commitment to digital transformation with the Altius Tech Park project, which promises to be the first technology hub in El Salvador.

This first-world complex will be located in the municipality of Ciudad Arce, department of La Libertad, and will consist of eight buildings, seven of which will house offices and one that is already under construction will house the first commercial data center with Tier III certification in the country, DataTrust.

"Altius Tech Park has a 100% focus on companies that provide services ranging from BPOs, call centers, data centers, software developers and academic institutions, all focused on the technology industry", said Rene Ramos, general manager of Aristos Inmobiliaria.

El Salvador, the next technology hub in the region

In recent times, different laws have been passed aimed at providing the country with attractive tools for new technology companies to invest in the territory, among them are: The International Services Law, Law for the Issuance of Digital Assets, Law for the Promotion of Innovation and Manufacture of Technologies and the General Law for the Digital Modernization of the State, among others.

This confirms the bet that Aristos Inmobiliaria started years ago with the Altius Tech Park project. "We firmly believe that the country has the potential to be a technological hub, which is why before these laws were passed, we were already working on Altius, and now with the new incentives, more investments will be made for the country", says René Ramos.

DataTrust, the anchor of Altius Tech Park

The first infrastructure already under construction in Altius Tech Park is DataTrust, which has an initial investment of over $22 million dollars, and is the first Tier III certified commercial data center in the country. The gray work is 85% complete and the services they will offer are: colocation, which consists of providing specialized services to store technological processing and storage equipment with the necessary cooling and communications systems for 24/7 operation.

Other services are public cloud, which are shared services, and private cloud, used exclusively by an organization, in addition to spaces for customers to provide business continuity and disaster recovery.

The start of operations of DataTrust is scheduled for the beginning of 2024 and with this, the executives of Aristos Inmobiliaria believe that there will be the necessary opportunities to put El Salvador on the map of international companies in the field of technology, working between private entities, the government and academia, which must look at these new opportunities to ensure specialized human talent for organizations that come to the country.
