According to the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR), the number of companies that have placed their products in international markets has increased, compared to last year.

The BCR adds that economic units exporting up to US$10,000 reached 613 up to the fifth month of 2022, or 5.5% more than the same period last year. This group includes small and medium-sized companies that managed to meet the requirements to make the leap towards internationalization.

In the specific segment of those earning US$500 to US$1,000, the number of units increased 27.78 % and their contribution to the economy measured in income is 33.94% higher than the period from january to may 2021.

There are other foreign trade indicators that allow us to anticipate that there will be continuity in the projects and that there will be greater productivity.

For example, the import of capital goods. This type of purchases from abroad serves to expand investments and install more machinery.

Likewise, the BCR showed that the import of capital goods accumulated US$1,112.9 million between january and may of this year, which represents the highest amount compared to previous years. A greater bet on production indicates that businessmen want to continue betting on the country.

In the case of intermediate goods, which are used for industries, the BCR reports purchases of US$3,221 million, higher than in previous years, a sign that they are maintaining the pace of production upwards.
