The Claudia Lars peripheral road, a 10.8 kilometer long highway that connects the Santa Ana and Sonsonate highways, is ready to add to the road mobility plan in which US$30 million was invested.

More than 15,000 drivers who travel to and from Sonsonate every day will benefit from the Claudia Lars peripheral road. In addition, with complementary works, the Ministerio de Obras Públicas (MOP) will also work on the construction of an overpass at the San Juan Opico detour and another at the Sacacoyo detour.

With this bypass between the municipalities of San Juan Opico and Sacacoyo, both in the department of La Libertad, the time to travel to the western part of the country will be reduced, drivers will no longer have to pass through the municipality of Lourdes, Colón, where vehicle congestion is common.
The road was designed with road engineering, and includes two bridges: One over the Talnique River and the other over the Colón River, in addition to traffic circles. Also, a bicycle lane was built, which will have the same length as the road.
The construction of road infrastructure for the western part of the country does not end with this bypass, since next year the MOP authorities announced that they will begin with the widening of a section of the Pan-American Highway and the construction of the Francisco Morazán viaduct, in the area known as Los Chorros.
