Written by Evelyn Alas

The President of Banco de Desarrollo de El Salvador (BANDESAL), Juan Pablo Durán, visited the Cooperativa ACOPASANTAL de R.L formed by blind and low vision people, manufacturers of mattresses, mats, furniture and cushions.

The members of the cooperative are salvadorans who seek to demonstrate their ability and effort to integrate into productive life, with just the touch of their hands they make mattresses and then sell them to the local and national market, in order to receive income that can help them bring daily sustenance to their families.

The mattresses that this group of people manufacture is made of foam and cotton, made to the size requested by customers, they also make pillows, cushions and everything related to mattresses.

"It is admirable the work of this cooperative known for having great entrepreneurs, who every day manufacture quality products. For BANDESAL it is an honor to support this type of cooperatives that inject positivism and dynamism into society and the country's economy", said BANDESAL's President, Juan Pablo Durán.

The institution is creating financial mechanisms and tools to support this type of entrepreneurs, through the Trust Fund for the Fideicomiso Para la Recuperación Económica de las Empresas Salvadoreñas (FIREMPESA) and the Subsidy Program for people with disabilities who carry out a productive activity.
