The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) approved US$500,000 in emergency aid for natural disasters to the Republic of El Salvador to help mitigate the adverse effects generated by Storm Julia, which are reflected in losses and damages to the country's population and infrastructure.

The funds will support the actions implemented by the authorities in the country to address the aftermath of this weather phenomenon, including the purchase of food, drinking water and basic necessities, medicines and medical equipment, medical care services, shelter supplies, materials and labor for the construction or repair of infrastructure, among other needs that must be covered.

"Our region has been hit by this tropical depression, causing human and economic losses. We sympathize with the families affected and join the actions that government authorities are taking to implement priority mechanisms to safeguard the lives and safety of salvadorans, guaranteeing their basic care", commented CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

These resources will be executed by the Government of El Salvador through the Ministerio de Obras Públicas (MOP).

CABEI will continue to promote programs and projects to help countries in the region implement climate change prevention and adaptation measures to reduce vulnerability to natural phenomena.
