Walmart El Salvador is recognized for being an inclusive company

For Walmart, inclusion is one of the most important strategic pillars at a global level, the retail chain builds a fairer and more equitable world, promoting programs that actively contribute to have a more diverse and inclusive society.

For the second consecutive year, Walmart received the "Disability Awards" recognition, granted by the British Embassy in our country, which rewards actions and efforts made by organizations, public and private sectors to promote the inclusion and hiring of people with disabilities.

Among the actions that the company develops in the area of inclusion are:

  • Ensuring a work environment based on tolerance and respect, promoting safe spaces, free of harassment and discrimination where customers, associates can be themselves and feel that their ideas, experiences and identities are valued to develop their full potential.
  • Diversity and inclusion strategy focused on four pillars: gender equity, talent with disabilities, LGBT+ community and non-discrimination.
  • Strong proposal in the promotion of Talent with Disabilities, with sponsorship programs, recruitment as "Yo Refiero Talento Inclusivo" and strategic alliances with key players in El Salvador, all supported by the Policy of Inclusion of People with Disabilities.
  • Creation of campaigns aimed at its associates and leaders to reduce cognitive biases, use of inclusive language, promoting itself as a company that embraces differences.

"With more than 4 thousand associates in El Salvador, Walmart provides equal opportunities to all people beyond gender, valuing diversity and inclusion, respecting the dignity of each person, appreciating their abilities and enhancing their unique characteristics", said Lynnethee Machuca, Human Resources manager of Walmart in El Salvador.

Differences are valued because it allows them to combine different perspectives to build more and better proposals for customers, providing work opportunities and space within the company for everyone, regardless of their physical conditions. To date, the company has 6% of employees with disabilities.
