Authorities of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma  (CEPA), informed that the port of Acajutla has mobilized 2,013,161 metric tons of merchandise in imports and exports, between january 1 to may 7, 2022.

Likewise, they highlighted that the Puerto de Acajutla surpassed in 50.6 % the cargo volume it handled between january 1 and march 12 of this same year.

For the autonomous agency, these data are encouraging since they help to reactivate the national economy, even in the midst of the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, this achievement of the CEPA also comes in the midst of the economic crisis caused by global inflation following the escalation of prices experienced by oil derivatives.

This volume of finished products and raw materials entering and leaving the maritime terminal represents 38% of the 5,292,285 metric tons mobilized during 2021, which is very positive, since during the first months of the year economic activity generally starts off rather slowly.

This excellent port operation has been greatly influenced by the streamlining of the supply chain, thanks to the improvements implemented by the new administration of the institution.

One of the most recent improvements in the supply chain carried out by CEPA at the port facilities is the investment of US$4.3 million for the modernization and construction of the pre-port and access #1, which has streamlined all the paperwork related to the reception and dispatch of cargo.
