Passengers departing from El Salvador will not go through immigration controls

Written by Karla Gutiérrez

The Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería (DGME), informed this thursday that passengers leaving El Salvador through the Aeropuerto San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdamez will no longer go through immigration control.

This procedure is part of a new "invisible migration" passenger exit control system, which was presented by the director of Migration, Ricardo Cucalón.

"Now all passengers departing to any destination through this air terminal, which monthly add up to more than 190,000 passengers, will no longer need to go through a migration control at the migration windows", said Cucalón.

Passengers leaving the country through the airport passed through three controls: the first is airline and baggage registration; the second is immigration, this phase is where the destination and date of travel is notified again and finally the security check where the bags pass through X-rays.

The director of migration, Cucalón, said that with this, people who have exit restrictions will not be able to leave El Salvador and, for this, they are in constant communication with the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), the Policía Nacional Civil (PNC), the State Intelligence Agency and the Procuraduría General de la República (PGR).

"All those persons who, for any reason, have an exit restriction, will not be able to leave and will be placed, if necessary, under the orders of the competent authority", mentioned the director.

With the "invisible migration", the Directorate is betting on a reduction of time for each passenger leaving El Salvador and will benefit two million people.
