“They go for cooking, gardening, cleaning, administrative jobs, customer service and senior management, we are sending occasional segments of all kinds. We ask God to protect them while they are there and, on their return”,detailed minister Castro, during the press conference in a hotel in the capital.
The official said that in less than 30 days, two contingents will travel to Canada with excellent salaries and work benefits, adding that they are going with practically all expenses paid and this has a positive impact on the economies of the workers' families.
The Labor Migration program began in 2019 and to date has managed to place salvadorans in specific jobs in areas such as: agriculture, industry and construction, in Canada. This program also seeks to expand to countries in Europe.
“Close to 10,000 people we have sent. In the last few months, we have sent between 250 to 300 people to Canada. We are going to continue sending more contingents”, Castro emphasized.
The minister said that this type of program seeks to eliminate irregular migration and ensure that compatriots could take a plane and go to work safely abroad, without risking their lives.
