The President of the Defensoría´s Office, Ricardo Salazar, expressed that the plan includes the attention of consumers and the verification of promotions and offers in the main commercial centers and e-commerce.
This new deployment seeks to prevent damages to the pockets of the population and to guarantee that suppliers comply with the main provisions of the Consumer Protection Law, he reiterated, minutes before leading the first inspections at the Metrocentro Shopping Mall.
The plan will be carried out from today until december 30, during which time e-commerce advertising will be monitored and inspections will be carried out to protect consumers' rights regarding prices on demand, higher prices for credit card purchases.
Regarding the verification of misleading advertising and promotions and offers, the head of the Defensoría's Office informed that 64 cases have been sanctioned for "non-compliance" by the Sanctioning Court, with fines totaling more than US$250 thousand.
The institution has provided legal support to the population through 66 working days in 34 points of attention in the territory, located in major shopping malls, parks, squares and some municipalities, among other places of population concentration.
