Written by Evelyn Alas

With the inauguration of new routes and the implementation of 12 self-service kiosks for the benefit of its customers, Avianca reaffirms its commitment to the connectivity of salvadorans and the aviation industry in the country, as expressed by the company in a press conference held at the Aeropuerto Internacional Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero, where it also celebrated the start of two of the four new routes announced for this month.

With this, the airline will reach a total of 22 direct routes and around 30 daily flights to connect its customers in El Salvador with destinations to North America, Central America, South America and Europe.

"Today we have expanded our route network, inaugurating direct flights to Boston and Cancun; in a few days we will also start operations to Orlando, which means 10 additional flights a week and more than 15,000 extra seats on these 3 new routes alone. This will undoubtedly improve connectivity options for the salvadoran diaspora and will continue to position El Salvador as one of the most important hubs in the Central American region", commented Alex Benítez, Avianca's Vice President for Central America and the Andean Region.

Reyna Mejía, Avianca's Country Officer for El Salvador, recalled that "on june 20, the San Salvador-Madrid seasonal route will be inaugurated, which marks a milestone in the airline's aviation history in the country, and in july the San Salvador-Las Vegas route will be inaugurated".

Avianca currently has a market share of 53% being the market leader and so far this year has transported more than 1 million passengers to and from the country with a punctuality indicator of 91.44%. It is worth noting that, according to Cirium, Avianca is consistently among the 6 most punctual airlines in the world, and according to this year's april ranking, the airline is in second place worldwide.

More facilities and self-service kiosks for Avianca passengers

Today, the airline also announced that, in order to improve the flight experience for customers, it launched 12 digital self-management kiosks in the check-in area of the El Salvador International Airport, representing a significant investment of more than USD200,000, which contributes to the modernization of the air terminal with international service standards. "Less time in lines and more comfortable and easier processes for passengers who will be able to print their boarding passes and baggage tags. We are ready and we know that this investment will help a lot in the high season", said Benitez.
